If you’ve seen my instagram (@katesnumberones), you know I LOVE wearing pops of color. Being that it is Spring, pops of color are all over in the fashion world. I love adding color, whether it be in my clothing, jewelry, makeup, or even nail polish.
Did you realize that the color you’re wearing not only affects your mood, but targets a reaction from everyone who sees you? I’ll spare you the research and boring details, but basically experts say that the color you wear can and does make an impression on everyone you see, including yourself. 🙂
Red– strong emotions, powerful, confident, passionate, bold (PS- this is the color experts say to wear to an interview.)
Orange– energetic, refreshing, peaceful
Yellow– aggressive, happy, cheerful, high energy (some see yellow as one of the most “irritating colors”) hmmm…
Green– calming, optimistic, healthy
Blue– peaceful, productive, inspirational (some see blue as sadness)
Purple– royal, exotic, mysterious
Pink– romantic, creative, refreshing
Usually before I start my day I think about the color I want to wear. How am I feeling? What impression do I want to give off? I have to be honest, most of the time at work, I wear mostly black or gray. However, on the weekends and evenings, I am all about adding in color.
Usually I add in certain colors for certain events. Listed below are just a few ideas on what colors I usually wear to date nights, girls nights, errands, working out, etc.
Date nights: pink, purple, red
Girls nights: pink, yellow, orange
Weekend shopping: orange, yellow, red, green, blue, purple, pink *all the colors! 🙂
Errands: blue, green
Working out: blue, green
Interviews: red
Work wear: blue, red, green
There is no strict rule and being creative and fun with your wardrobe and colors is a personal choice. Listed above are just some ideas of color pops you can add to your fun plans.
It’s exciting to think about all the different possibilities of adding color to your wardrobe. Wearing an all black dress or pant suit and a pop of red polish will look a lot different than black dress/pant suit with purple polish. If you’re going to an event, try to think about what vibes you want to give off and go from there.
Below are a few pictures of myself, wearing different pops of colors.

I love this fun and flowy tunic/dress. It adds the perfect pop of red for a romantic date night. This would be a perfect Spring/Summer night piece since it has the long sleeves. Find it here!

I love this fun flamingo shift dress. It is perfect for a summer night with girlfriends and adds that perfect pair of pink and green. Find it here!

This is my all time favorite dress at the moment. It has the classic black and pops of pink and purple. This is so romantic, dainty, and also bold. Perfect for a Spring/Summer day! Find it here!

I personally love yellow. It is definitely bold and cheerful to me. Lemons are everywhere again this year. I just can’t help but wear it. 🙂 Find a similar dress here!

This blue/purple floral wrap dress is stunning. It is perfect for bridal showers, girls night, or a fancy dinner/lunch date! Find a similar dress here!

In love with this green faux leather jacket. I love to wear mine out to errands and when I need something to throw on to keep warm! This jacket is a few years old, so I am looking to upgrade with this jacket!

You guys KNOW the color pink is my favorite in all of it’s shades. I am obsessed with this fun pink color for summer nights and dancing! I found a lighter pink shaded dress with fun ruffles that I will be buying for the summer here!

I love this baby blue blouse. It has slit bell sleeves and is perfect to wear over the weekend with an amazing hat. Hat is linked here! And the blue blouse is linked hurrrr!

And last, but definitely not least, is this fun and colorful top. I love mixing in ALL the colors together. When I see this I think *fun and happiness*. I love wearing these types of tops on a date day with my hubby. It stands out, and puts me in a fun/energetic mood so I can annoy him with my funny jokes and constant need to be doing something. 🙂 This piece was from last year, but I linked some similar fun pieces here, here, and here!
So ladies, what do you think? What color(s) will you be wearing this Spring and Summer?
If you want to see more and possibly be made into a series, let me know. We could go into work outfits, interviews, dates, etc. discussing colors and what you can pair together to look and feel your best!
Thank you so much for reading, pretty gal. Until next time…
