Look Younger & Brighter, Feel Healthier & Stronger – Cryotherapy, Float Tanks, and Infrared Saunas with A Better You Wellness

Hello you beautiful girl, you!  I am so excited to let you in on some of the best kept secrets of skin, hair, and beauty.  The experiences I wrote about today have changed my skin, my hair, and even helped soothe my stressed out muscles.

If you’ve been watching my snapchat (@katesnumberones) and instastories you would have seen me having all kinds of fun at A Better You Wellness in Carmel, Indiana.  ABY Wellness invited me in to test out Cryotherapy, infrared saunas, and float tanks.  I hadn’t heard much about any of those experiences before, so I was super excited to try them out.

After ABY Fitness contacted me, I did a little research on my own to find out what I was going to be doing and the benefits of each experience. I am going to fill you in on what each machine does and how it is supposed to help your body!  I will also let you know my personal experience and what benefits I saw from each machine.  Side note:  If you don’t have a salon near you that has these experiences, I am also going to link some products that have helped me with my hair and skin as well.  I truly believe it takes combinations to get your hair and skin where you really want it to be. img_1014

Cryotherapy

I was able to experience both full body Cryotherapy sessions and a few cryotherapy facials. Cryotherapy is a process in which your body is exposed to hyper cool temperatures (~240 degrees farenheit).  You’re only exposed to these temperatures for about three minutes, so it’s pretty doable.  I was super nervous that I would be extremely uncomfortable with the freezing temperature, because I’m such a baby when I’m cold.  I cant stand the winter and if I’m not wrapped up in a warm blanket, I’m not happy. 🙂  So the thought of willingly standing there for three minutes in-240 degrees was not my happiest thought.  However….the results were SO worth it!

Cryotherapy is said to:

  • increase collagen
  • reduce cellulite
  • rid skin blemishes
  • help with anti-aging
  • speed up your metabolism
  • reduce pain, soreness, inflamation
  • accelerate recovery
  • release endorphins
  • improve sleep

I definitely noticed that I felt better in general.  I was less achy and definitely had those endorphins rushing through my body.  Since my face wasn’t in the machine, I wasn’t able to notice the differences in skin/hair…until I got the Cryotherapy facial!

Cryotherapy facials are more of a localized treatment to the face. A beam of vaporized liquid nitrogen is concentrated on the face, neck, and scalp.  It is still cold, but even more doable. 🙂

Benefits to a cryofacials:

  • reduces pore size
  • stimulates collgaen production
  • dark spot reduction
  • helps rid lines and wrinkles
  • soothes skin blemishes
  • stimulates hair growth

I definitely noticed that my pore size was smaller and my face looked plumper..in a good way.  My acne was definitely less noticable as well. I wasn’t able to see much of a difference in my fine lines & wrinkles, or hair growth.  One probably being that I don’t have many wrinkles yet and two being that my hair is already so long, I wouldn’t notice difference. I was super impressed when I walked out with plump skin, small pores, and treated acne.  And oh hey..Demi Moore does cryofacials all the time before big events.  If the facials are what makes her skin so youthful, I’m in!

I was more than pleased with Cryotherapy.  I truly believe it works like magic and if you ever get the chance experience it, I would.  If, by chance, you don’t have a local salon near you, there are some other products you can use to help you with your specific skin concerns.  I am going to link my favorite products along with the skin benefits below.  I use these products daily, and I full heartedly believe you need to combine skincare with these experiences to achieve ultimate results. All the products listed below are the products I use for each skin care need I have.  I swear by all of them, as my skin has come so far in a matter of months!

Acne- acne maskspot treatmentclearing Solution

Dark spots/Melasma- skincare setmask  (Okay…so this mask CHANGED THE SKINCARE GAME for me.  If you have bad brown spots or melasma, you need this. I have tried all kinds of medicine from the dermatologist and honestly after using this twice, I saw the biggest difference.  I cried the first time after using this because I was so self concious about my melasma and after seeing a lot of the brown pigment picked up, I couldn’t contain myself from being so happy.  I would do commercials for this product if they’d let me. Haha.) Side note:  Just dont use it the day before your wedding and then dermaplane….not a good decision.  Red face for dayzzzzz.

Fine lines and wrinkles & hydration-  facial oil (Can I scream about this one too?  If I could only pick one skincare prodcut to have the rest of my life?  This would be it, hands down…no questions asked. This hyrdrates and I see a noticeable glowy difference the next morning.  If you’re going for that “glow”, this is the product for you.  I even add it to my foundations in the summer.

Smaller pores- Just stared using this and seeing a big difference!

Float Tanks

If you just need a mini break, try this baby out.  You literally are laying on top of water for 90 minutes in complete sensory deprivation.  You dont hear anything, see anything, feel anything, etc.  You lay there and your muscles completely relax.  Float tanks are made to make you feel completely weightless. You are laying in water that is the same temperature as you body and is filled with 900 pounds of epsom salt.

Let me let you in on my experience.   As some of you may know, I am not a still person.  So for me to lay down for 90 minutes was a definite challenge first few times.  I ended up moving around, getting out a couple times, and doing crunches in the float tank..yep…crunches.  (so much easier in water where you’re weightless, but hey.) After the third time, I was able to shut off and really feel the benefits of just being still.  I came out so much more relaxed and at peace.  I was able to shut off my mind and body long enough to center myself. Here is the REAL reason I love float tanks.  IT CHANGED MY SKIN AND HAIR IN WAYS I’VE NEVER SEEN IT CHANGE. My hair was soooo soft and healthy looking everytime I got out.  I hopped on snapchat and showed everyone how impressed I was. My hair hadn’t felt that soft since I was in elementary.  The magnesium helps the hair to create strong hair follicles that last.  (It’s also said to help with dandruff, graying hair, balding, body soreness, healthy teeth, etc.)  If any of those issues concern you,  and you can’t access a float tank, try a magnesium oil linked here. You will get very similar benefits! The float tank made a huge difference in my skin as well.  I have pretty bad keratosis pilaris and have used many products to help combat the little bumps on the backs of my arms.  The magnesium made my skin smoother than I’ve EVER felt! I was in complete disbelief for weeks after I floated. I am going to link the body butter and exfoliator I used in conjuction with the floats.  I use both the oil body butter (best in the world) and the sugar scrub regularly.

Infrared Sauna

img_1840

Okay, so this was our next venture.  I loved the sauna experience.  We chose the weight loss option when we went in.   It was so relaxing and felt so nice to be warm during this cold winter.  I noticed very slight/if any weightloss changes, but that is to be expected when you only go a few times in a month.  It was definitely different than any other sauna I had been to because it is heated using infrared lights. It would be great to go in after a workout to get the circulation pumping through your body, metabolism kicked into gear, and rid of all the toxins.

These experiences were absoultely amazing and Ross and I cannot wait to go back!  If you want to know more about ABY fitness, I attached their website here.  I hope you enjoyed the read and it helped you with some of your hair/skin/body concerns.  If you have any questions, leave a comment and I will get back to you!  Thank you so much for reading and until next time…

“Today, do one little thing to take care and then repeat tomorrow.”

xoxo,

Katelyn
